Join the Brotherhood
For nearly 100 years, Pi Kappa Phi has been building better men on college campuses across the country. From our humble beginning at the College of Charleston to over 130 chapters today, Pi Kappa Phi has given over 88,000 men the opportunity to be a part of something special. They are part of America's Leading Fraternity.
Pi Kappa Phi is a first CLASS fraternity that firmly believes in the tenets of Character, Leadership, Academics, Sportsmanship, and Service. These principles are not only valued but instilled through leading-edge educational, service and leadership opportunities.
Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity is not the largest men's social fraternity in the country. It does not have the most initiates nor the most chapters on college campuses across the country. Pi Kappa Phi prides itself in offering our members the best educational, service, and leadership opportunities than any other fraternity.
At The George Washington University, we utilize our unique resources on and off campus in order to provide our members with experiences that will benefit them for life. From Day One of Rush until Initiation, we try to instill onto our brotherhood the importance of CLASS. We also strive to separate ourselves from other organizations, both Greek and non-Greek.
We have strict no-tolerance policies on hazing. As a member of Pi Kappa Phi, you are students of this University first, members second. Rather than take up priority in our members' lives as underclassmen, we strongly encourage brothers to participate in other on and off-campus activities. We will not try to define your college experience, but rather enhance it. The vast majority of our brothers are active in other organizations including Student Association, Program Board, The Pre-Law Society, Intramural Sports Teams, Ultimate Frisbee, The Foreign Service Fraternity, and many members serve the University as House Proctors (RAs), Dean's Assistants, and members of GW's Colonial Cabinet. Through these activities and our participation in other organizations on and off-campus, we have developed a strong group of true leaders and excellent students.
Throughout our Chapter's short history, we have accumulated awards and accolades from the University and our National Organization. We recently received the Gold Level of Achievement for Chapter Excellence from the University. In 2004 and 2005, we were back-to-back Champions in the Inter-Fraternity sports league. We maintain the highest cumulative GPA of any Fraternity on campus. In five years of existence, we have built a reputation to be proud of, and we have only begun to enforce our presence as an outstanding campus organization.
Whether or not Greek Life is for you is something to be determined once you arrive on campus. Some men will jump at the opportunity. Others will come to GW with no intentions of joining a Greek organization and may decide never to give it a try; most at GW lie somewhere in between. Many of our members have waited until second semester, or even sophomore year to join. Students may find themselves in this type of situation, and we encourage prospective members to wait until they feel that they can both give and receive the most out of their commitment to the chapter. Pi Kappa Phi will not be the best choice for everyone. However, with our commitment to excellence and our strong sense of leadership throughout our community, we look for intelligent, dedicated, well-rounded individuals to help continue to build and bolster our brotherhood and our GW community. Please contact Ben Burruto at info@pikappgw.org with any questions about formal IFC fall rush or the process of joining.
